About Me
I am a West Papuan artist working primarily in graphic art and digital illustration. My practice is rooted in an interest in visual forms that live within Papuan culture, such as motifs, ornaments, and traditional symbols. I understand these elements not merely as visual representations, but as part of a living system of knowledge and experience that continues to evolve.
These elements are then reworked through processes of stylization, composition, and color experimentation, resulting in new visual forms that remain grounded in their original context. As part of a younger generation of Papuan artists, I am interested in how identity can be understood as something dynamic—continuously shaped through the encounter between tradition and change.
Through my works, I aim to create a space for reflection on how Papuan visuality can continue to grow and adapt within a contemporary landscape. My practice often engages with questions of identity, representation, and the evolving social dynamics in Papua, while maintaining a strong commitment to aesthetic exploration as a foundational element.
I am also actively involved in collective practices with Udeido and other collaborative projects, both within the visual arts and across disciplines, bringing artistic practice into dialogue with broader public spaces. Through my work, I seek to offer new readings of Papuan visuality, while expanding perspectives on the relationship between tradition and contemporary artistic practice.
My visual works are not merely about representation, but about reclaiming.
